Artist:    Blue Tongue
Track:   ‘Down At Midnights’
Album:   Romeo Street’
Blue Tongue Records/ Independent

When asked to submit a "Bluetongue" band biography, for the lovely Mel n Jillian on their forthcoming compilation CD. I thought Great Stuff! I'll wax lyrical and pump it to the max. I then thought behave yourself Boris. As a singer /lyricist with a healthy cynicism for the realities of life, I reneged.
I didn't fancy the idea of the words returning to bite me on the arse, or for the lads in the band to kick my arse for that matter.
Basically Bluetongues beginnings evolved from a burning mutual desire, to create thoroughly original music. Our first CD "Romeo Street" is the template for the CD's ahead. You'll find no fillers here, just honest driven creative enthusiasm, varied in style, delivered with heart & soul on each subject/track.
When you're producing enough material for 3 CD's over a 10 month period, whilst shaping up production for the first CD, (all this alongside the daily 9 to 5 grind) you know you've got a positive Buzz happening within the Band. The influences upon Bluetongue will be best judged by the listener.
The Band consists of 4 Perth WA based lads (South of the Swan River)
3 Australian and 1 Scousetralian (don't ask) It's all about the music and the love of it, so for now we'll let the music walk the walk. If it reaches an appreciative audience out there, we'll be more than willing to talk the talk - BLUETONGUE.

Artist:     Mike De Velta
Track:    ’15 Days’
Album:   ‘On A Backdrop of Silence’
True Blue Records/ Independent

Mike De Velta’s early live experience was in the North West town of Karratha, which was fertile soil in which to develop a solid repertoire of early Blues standards. He played at the beautiful Walkington Theatre where he was able to support and learn from a number of significant passing Australian artists and groups, however his musical experience was revolutionized when he met the sensational Indonesian session guitarist Dilli Rihenna in Roebourne.   By 1999 Mike had formed a partnership with harmonica layer Mark Whinnen and they formed ‘The Mudcats’, a duo which developed a good reputation in the area for performing vibrant Delta and Texas blues.
Currently living in Fremantle, Western Australia, Mike performs as a solo artist utilizing bluesy vocals, harmonica, 12 string, resonator and acoustic guitars and a stomp box. In recent years his musical style has become somewhat more eclectic, incorporating elements as varied as Piedmont Blues, subtle Jazz, delta style blues, folk and even Indian ragas.
To mention just a few, over the years he has provided support entertainment for Deborah Conway, Lucky Oceans, Nathan Cavalieri, Vdelli, The Ragabillys, Blue Shaddy, Bondi Cigars, Derrin Nuaendorf and The Waifs.

With vocalist guitarist, Mike Beale up front and a truly dazzling rhythm section they are sliding, grooving and infusing their way into the worlds of audiences everywhere.
At a fill in gig in late 2003 Mike struck a common cord with some local players, a love of groove based blues and roots music. Once together they began the process of musical fusion – a coming together of ideas and styles – out of which the band Men In Blues was formed. “We take the traditional blues style and twist it, finding a groove and keeping the music up”.

Artist:     Mike Beale
Track:    ‘Kottke’
Album:   CD Single
Independent

Guitarist/vocalist Mike Beale started out in the early 80s in Fremantle, Western Australia. Starting out in an era dominated by big scale rock music didn’t provide a great deal of opportunities for a blues artist. But in 1984 a stroke of sporting magic changed the face of the local music scene thanks to Australia winning the America’s Cup.
Playing in and around the small and more intimate venues in the now thriving Fremantle provided the platform to launch a successful local solo career. For several years Beale played the local scene culminating in a 1986 local release of his first album Breakaway.
Not long after releasing that first album Beale left West Australia for greener pastures which found him playing in laces as far apart as Canberra and Cairns before eventually ending up on the Gold Coast. A new album for Mike is in the works and to be released around the end of the year.
